

Mary Lou Gonzales, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 19, 2012, at the age of 94. She was born in Del Rio, Texas on July 28, 1918. Mary Lou will always be remembered for the love and dedication she had for her family, and she will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus N. Cates and Elvira M. Martinez Cates, her loving husband, Gilbert Gonzales, her children, Roberto and Rico Valdez, and her sisters Rosie and Elizabeth. She is survived by her children, Angie Fischetti, Armando (Gloria) Valdez, and David H. Valdez; grandchildren, Gina Yesson, Christina (Mark Pichet) Valdez, David Valdez, Monica Valdez, Sonia (Caio Arrellano) Valdez, Daniel Valdez, Rico (Rosalinda Del Valle) Valdez, and Lena (Chris) Neelie; great-grandchildren, Serina King, Alex Yesson, Chris Galvan, Kristine Galvan, Marc Galvan, Kai Jennings, Gaby Valdez, Mia Valdez, Diego Valdez, Maya Andrea Valdez-Arellano and Camila Valdez Piche; great-great-grandchildren, Rebbeca Valencia, Julian Valencia and Joziah Valencia; sister, Teresa Randez; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. We wish to acknowledge the professionals of Evercare Hospice, for their kind assistance during this difficult time. The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home the following morning, Thursday, October 25, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1314 Fair Ave. A Committal Service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
