

Major Norman "Butch" L. Stowe, US Army, Ret. passed away at age 85 of natural causes on Monday, May 2, 2011. Maj. Stowe was born in San Antonio to Riley W. Stowe and Doris May Ealy. He resided here until at age 17 when he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. Major Stowe rose thru the ranks of the Military serving with honor and distinction, earning many awards and citations, during three wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1964 as a Senior Aviator Pilot after 22 years of Active Duty, where he held multiple positions of Command as an Aviation Maintenance Officer and Test Pilot . Major Stowe then continued his Aviation career as a Department of Defense civilian Test Pilot at the Army’s Aircraft Overhaul facility, ARADMAC, located at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX until his retirement in 1972. Major Stowe has since resided with his beautiful wife of 66 years Eloise Locke Stowe at Medina Lake, Lakehills, TX. He leaves behind his wife Eloise Stowe, two children, Stephen Lee Stowe and Elizabeth Jean White his Sister in Law, Jewell Shatwell and special friends Mark and Cathy Stevens. Major Stowe loved his country, and the Army. He was a true patriot. He will be missed by all those he touched during his life. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Roy Akers Funeral Home 515 N. Main San Antonio, TX. The Funeral Service will be at the same location on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Internment to follow at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers; please make donations to the American Legion, Post 410, Lakehills, TX 78063.
