Petra Garza

Petra Rosas Garza, also known as Patsy, entered into heaven’s gate on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the age of 76. She was born June 29, 1938, in Fashing, Texas to Nieves and Christina Rosas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Petra was preceded in death by her husband Emilio Valfre Garza, of 56 years and by sister Amelia Ornelas. She is survived by her seven children: Gabriel Garza, Cynthia Kay Mayorga and her husband Joe, Rosa Linda Ramon and her husband Ralph, Jimmy George Garza and his wife Joanne, Rachel Garza, Benjamin Garza and his wife Joni, and Mary Elizabeth Gomez and her husband Antonio; grandchildren: Gabriel Emilio Garza Jr., Christopher Charles Sauceda, Joshua Leopold Ramon, Jeremy Ramon, Zachariah Garza, Lauren Salinas, Isidro Juan Flores, Leyana Flores, Priscilla Ramirez, Emilio Avery Garza, Taranee Garza, Petra Garza, and Abigail Marie Gomez; great grandchildren: Isaac Jr., Danilo, Devany,Scarlett Winter , and siblings: Rufina R. Espinoza and Ignacio Rosas and numerous relatives.

Petra will be remembered for her love of Jesus Christ, her husband, her family, the church, and everyone that came to know her. She was compassionate and willing to help anyone in need no matter the cost. She was dedicated to the Lord’s work and spoke to everyone about God’s unconditional love with fierce courage. Many remember her willingness to give rides to church and her whole hearted generosity. She truly showed God’s love through her actions. She raised her children with strong discipline but with gentle arms. Her spiritual wisdom and inspiring advice changed many lives. She stood by her husband until the very end. No person will ever fill the void she left in our hearts until we see her again. We give thanks to the Lord for lending her to us. We will remember many good times and cherish every heartwarming memory. Her spirit of love has made a great impact in our lives and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral procession will depart from the funeral home on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. to Capilla Del Pueblo Church, 314 S. Park Blvd for a 10:00 a.m. service. Interment will follow in San Jose Cemetery.
