She was known to everyone as “Fela” and was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who will be remembered for her dedicated and giving nature.
Rafaela was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter (Irma Malacara), along with many other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her son (Antonio Flores), nephew (Pete Moreno), and 5 grandsons (Andrew Flores, Nicholas Flores, Anthony Salinas, Roy Orozco, and Joseph Orozco), along with their spouses/families.
Fela lived beyond her golden years, reaching the age of 100 years old. This was a milestone she was proud of, as she often jokingly reminded everyone how well she took care of herself by saying, “I still have all my own teeth.”
Throughout her life, Fela was recognized for her service in different career fields including seamstress at Fort Sam Houston, Home Health Aid for the City of San Antonio, and as a Foster Grandparent at University Hospital in San Antonio. She frequently shared her experiences of being interviewed and highlighted in the local newspapers. Rafaela was a dedicated employee and volunteer who worked until the age of 75.
She was a religious person who attended mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church when she had the capacity to do so. Fela held onto her faith throughout her life. She lived a long, meaningful life and enjoyed every minute.
Anyone who took the time to get to know her and converse with her would hear stories about her life experiences including time spent with her grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
All who wish to pay their final respects to Rafaela B. Villanueva can do so on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers from 8:00 am – 9:30 am followed by a church mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso Street (78207) at 10:00 am. A Committal Service will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2 at 746 Castroville Rd. San Antonio, Texas at 11:30 am.
