

Stella Burciaga Molina, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt entered eternal rest on March 8, 2015, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben D. Molina; parents, Otto and Josefina Burciaga; brothers, Jesse and Otto (Jr.) Burciaga; brothers-in-law, Santiago “Jimmy” Valdez and Enacio Barretto; and daughter, Roberta Acosta. She is survived by her sons, Robert B. Molina (JoAnn) and Gregorio Gonzalez (Sylvia); sisters, Josefina Ramirez (Albert), Gloria Valdez, and Adela Barretto; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. Ms. Molina was a long-time employee of the Edgewood School District from which she retired. During her time with the district, she was President of the Food Service Association and organized and managed many special events, including fund raisers and trips. She volunteered with various organizations, among which are The Girl Scouts, for which she was a leader and trainer in the early sixties. Additionally, she was a volunteer of the Year for the Department of Human Services and was also recognized by Governors Richards and Clements for her volunteer activities. Ms. Molina served for many elections as presiding precinct judge in her home precinct. Stella was also an active member of the Blanco Apartments Residents Association. One of her favorite memories was serving as Senior Fiesta Queen and participating in the Battle of Flowers parade riding in a flower-festooned, horse-drawn carriage. Most recently, she was serving as a Commissioner for the San Antonio Housing Authority and derived immense satisfaction in serving the residents of the various SAHA communities and always looked forward to her meetings with both the Board and residents. Special thanks to the Board and staff of SAHA for their care and support; she respected and loved all of those she worked with in her role with the Board. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 to celebrate a 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church.
