Her career of 30+ years with Kelly Air Force Base is what she was most proud of. During this time she acquired her GED, and received numerous awards and citations for her dedication. Susie was very proud of the fact that during WWII she was reassigned as a mechanic and assisted in starting up the planes on the runway during the shortage of manpower. She retired as an Inventory Management Specialist GS9 from Kelly Air Force Base. Susie was an avid reader who loved family gatherings, music, dancing, and was an exceptional cook. She was a firm believer that people should be appreciated and cared for during their lifetime and was extremely generous. Regardless of obstacles,Susie never knew what giving up meant. The challenges only made her stronger and her faith never faltered. This was true even during the last 3 months of her life. Mom was the “heart and soul”of our little family. She was a mother who would sacrifice anything for her children and never complained. The love for her grandchildren was endless and unwavering love, compassion and the lessons she taught us will forever be engrained in our hearts. Mom was a remarkable woman! We wish to thank Casa Linda Home Care, Sisters Care [Incarnate Word], Brookdale Senior Living Center [Memory Care], Gentiva, Dr. Alan Garcia and staff for the loving care given to our beloved mother. She and her family appreciate the lifelong love of friends and neighbors, especially neighbors, Rosana Cornejo and Edna Torres for their devotion and care to our mother. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 14,2016 at 5:00 p.m.at Roy Akers with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 9:30a.m.to celebrate a 10:00 a.m.Mass at Sacred Heart.
