Theresa R. Hughes

Theresa R. Hughes, 90, of Pleasanton Texas, passed away on February 27,2017. She was born to the late Jose and Natalia Luna on May 17,1926 in San Antonio Texas. Theresa was a matriarch in her own right. A graduate from Lanier High School, and student at Durham Business College, Theresa succeeded in a career and retired 30 years at Kelly Air Force Base. Theresa’s passion for music and art had everyone dancing to her favorites of Ester Williams, Ester Phillips, Etta James, and Benny Goodman. Her written stories will forever be shared by family for years to come. Married to Ruben O. Hughes, Theresa is survived by her children Christine Sanchez (Gilbert), Ruben Hughes Jr., Ray Hughes, Richard Hughes (Belinda), Armando Gomez (Aurora), & Melva Herrera (Juan), 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and siblings Joe Luna (Linda), Helen Luna, Yolanda Martinez, Maria Sanchez (Carlos), and Elva Elonzo. Reunited with siblings Mickey Torres, John Luna, and Jesse Luna. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 5, 2017 from 5-9 PM and with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday March 6, 2017 at 10 am at The Basilica of the Shrine of the Little Flower. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
