

Maria Ysidra Alejandro, a cherished and faithful woman with a humorous spirit and prankster personality, passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on May 15, 1926, in Charlotte, Texas, Ysidra was a resident of San Antonio, Texas.
Ysidra, affectionately known as "Queen B" at the Family Reunion, earned her GED later in life, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth. She was a member of the Guadalupana society and she had a strong belief in the Blessed Virgin Mary, and was a devout Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Virginia O. Escalera; her spouse, Romualdo Alejandro; past husbands, Thomas Teniente and Juan Castro; her siblings, Leonardo, Rafael Grande, Jose, Feliciano, Juan, Rafael Chico, Maria Refugio, Pablo, Jose Ynes, Simon, Refugio & Guadalupe, Trinidad, and Jesus; and her children, Ana Maria, Little Rachel, and Gerardo.
Ysidra is survived by a loving family that spans five generations, including her six children: Angel, Virginia, Amparo, Graciela, Raquel, and Teresa. Her legacy continues through her 30 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 66 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Ysidra's personal interests were as diverse as her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet, dance, reading, singing, crossword puzzles, word searches, puzzles, gambling, scrapbooking, and trying new recipes. Her community involvement was marked by her dedication to helping the elderly and her skills in ironing clothing and cooking for various places and programs. Ysidra even mentioned once that when she was younger she made hush puppies at Long John Silver's. She had a great memory, she could remember so many birthdays of her nieces and nephews. She was also a great record keeper just like her dad was at bookkeeping.
A Rosary will be held on January 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, located at 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas, 78205. Following the Rosary, a Funeral Mass will take place at 12:45 p.m. Visitation will continue from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Maria Ysidra Alejandro's life was a testament to love, devotion, and resilience. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
