Bonnie Jean Jaeger, 95, of Harlingen, Texas passed away on July 6, 2023, in Sugar Land Texas, where her son resides. Officiating the memorial service will be Earl and Judy Gander of the Community of Christ Church in Harlingen, Texas. The service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, in the chapel at Mont Meta Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas at 10 a.m. with a graveside service to follow.
Bonnie was born on April 25, 1928, in Warba, Minnesota., but raised in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was married to Ernest Jaeger on December 22, 1947. The Jaegers relocated to South Texas in 1962 with their three boys. Bonnie earned a degree in Elementary Education at Pan American University while working and caring for her family. With that, she worked for HCISD as a librarian but primarily taught 2nd Grade at Zavala Elementary for almost 30 years. Bonnie was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Harlingen. She was well known for her skill of cake baking and decorating, including all 3 wedding cakes made for her sons.
After retirement, Bonnie spent summers in a travel trailer situated on a lake in northern Minnesota. There she enjoyed family and friends who lived in the surrounding campers, country, and villages.
When her travels were not enough, Bonnie taught herself the art of carving and decorating ostrich eggs. All her children, grandkids, and friends still enjoy them. And, as per standard Bonnie Jaeger, she never took a dime for the eggs which were worth hundreds.
That sums up Bonnie’s life, giving and giving and expecting nothing in return.
Loving us just the way we are.
