She is survived by her brothers, John and Maurice, as well as a nephew and two nieces.
Meg began her teaching career in Iowa before moving to Harlingen, Texas, where she taught in the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD) for 22 years. During her time in Harlingen, she met the love of her life, Claude McKinney, who preceded her in death in 2019.
Meg had a deep love for her family, friends, and students. She had a passion for collecting dolls, creating miniatures, and crafting. After retirement, one of her favorite joys was dining out once a month with the “retired girls” to celebrate birthdays and catch up over good food and conversation.
In keeping with Meg’s wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral. Instead, she asked that everyone say a prayer for her and enjoy a slice of cake or pie in her memory.
For those who wish to honor Meg further, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities:
*Sunshine Haven, Inc.** in Olmito – (956) 350-8400
*Sea Turtle, Inc.** on South Padre Island – (956) 761-4511
*Or to a charity of your choice
Meg’s kindness, creativity, and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
