Barbara Jean Prechter

Mrs. Barbara A. Prechter, 94, of Atlanta passed away on January 7, 2018. She was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin on June 25, 1923. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Wisconsin, she moved to Schenectady, New York in 1945 to join the accounting department at the General Electric headquarters. It was there that she met her future husband, Robert R. Prechter. They were married on May 25, 1948 and later moved with their three children to Atlanta in 1956. She was active in the community, serving at the Cathedral of Saint Philip on the finance committee for many years, as school secretary at Dykes High School and as librarian at Huntcliff Summit. Her hobbies included golf, crossword puzzles, reading, attending symphonies and operas, and world-wide travel. She is survived by her three children, Robert Prechter, Jr. and his wife Robin, Gary Prechter and his wife Margo, and Kristen P. Sykes and her husband Len, as well as eight grandchildren, Dana Prechter, Elliott Prechter, Michael Prechter, Christopher Prechter, Matthew Prechter, Kathryn Narveson, Brandt Sykes and Ashley Ball. A private graveside service will be held at the Arlington Memorial Park, 200 Mt Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia.
