

Bernard (Barney) Lewis Williams, age 95 of Dunwoody, Georgia, died peacefully on February 11, 2026. He was born June 2, 1930 in Guilford County, North Carolina to the late Percy Williams and Allie Simpson Williams. He graduated from Summerfield High School, Summerfield, North Carolina, then took many correspondence courses, including those from the Alexander Hamilton Business Institute in NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Cox, who passed in 2002 after 52 years of marriage. His only son, Bruce L. Williams, passed in 2005.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 21 years, Nancy Sellers Williams of Dunwoody, 3 older brothers—Marion, Kirby and Leon Williams and a sister, Betty Creekmuir. Despite many hardships and losses, it was always “the best day of his life.” He is survived by his stepdaughter, Sherri Sellers Williams and her husband, Marshall of Dunwoody, two grandchildren, Heike Kreitzer (Markus) of Huntsville, AL, and Daniel Williams (Miranda) of St. Louis, MO, and four great-grandchildren. He leaves behind Nancy Burton, Jim Young and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
After 38 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad, he retired as Agent of Atlanta’s Inman Yard. He joined his late wife in real estate with Coldwell Banker for 20 years. His first love was serving the Lord, his family, and his community. He was an active member of Dunwoody Baptist Church, The Samaritan Class and Young At Heart. He enjoyed golf, travel, yardwork, and bridge. As a Freemason for over 70 years and member of the Yaarab Shrine, he supported Shriners Children’s Hospitals. He was proud to be an American and served in the US Army attaining the rank of MSgt. His goal in life was for his little light to shine that others may know Jesus.
On Saturday, February 28, 2026, a visitation will be held from 3:00PM – 4:00PM followed by a celebration of life at 4:00PM at Dunwoody Baptist Church Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Dunwoody Baptist Church Samaritan Class Fund or the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, SC.
