Charles Luther Campbell

Charles Luther Campbell, Sr., of Atlanta, GA, departed this life on April 26, 2026. He was born March 22, 1943, to the late Ivan Campbell and Dorothy Davis. Charles was a charming, loving, gentle jokester. He graduated from the New York Public School System. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for two years, and after, the United States Air Force where he enjoyed working on airplanes and jets. He quickly became a Master Sergeant – his dedication, hard work and compliance of service made him proud within. After over 20 years of service, he retired from the Air Force with Honors. He went on to work for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, GA.

Charles departed this earth knowing he was deeply loved and cherished by family and friends. With an open mind and heart, he shared his joy, laughter and humor with everyone he met. He enjoyed reading, taking walks, telling corny jokes and listening to jazz music, which he especially loved.

Along with his parents Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan Campbell, II and Dennis Campbell. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Charles Campbell, II (Antionette) of Dover, DE; daughter, Nakia Coleman of San Bernardino, CA; youngest son, Kriston Campbell of Los Angeles, CA; four granddaughters, Shakiyla Campbell of Columbus, OH, Tala Campbell of Philadelphia, PA, Kayla Coleman of San Bernardino, CA and Samiya Coleman of San Bernardino, CA; two grandsons, Kyrie Coleman and Genesis of San Bernardino, CA; two great-grandsons, Andre Thomas and Righteous-Lee Mahone of Columbus, OH; two great-nieces who he adored dearly, Julia Perry of Atlanta, GA and Loretta Perry-Newsom (Carven) of Atlanta, GA; his niece who was like a daughter, who cared, loved, laughed, cried and made his last days some of his best – Denise Campbell-Mays (Horace); one sister, Pat Campbell of Bronx. NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 10:30am at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA followed by interment.
