

Mr. Charlie E. Huston passed away on September 23, 2016. He was born in Fort Worth Texas, the oldest of three boys. He played football, basketball and won the 1946 Golden Glove for his division. After graduating high school, he had an athletic scholarship to New Mexico A&M but was cut short when he joined the Navy in 1948 and served 4 years during the Korean War. After serving, he went to the University of North Texas and graduated with a degree in Insurance. He worked for two insurance companies over the span of 50 years and had his CHFC and CLU.
He served on the committee to bring the Olympics to Atlanta in 1976, was president of the Georgia AAU, coached in the first youth soccer league in Georgia , served on the first state soccer board, was president and life member of the Kiwanis Club, and he served on DeKalb County's citizen review panel to advocate for children in foster care. He coached his grandchildren's soccer teams until he was 78 years old. He loved taking care of foster dogs for Releashed Rescue until the day he died.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all that knew him. A graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery on Sat. Oct. 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM. The cemetery is located at 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy, NW Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Online condolences can be made at: www.sandyspringschapel.com.
