So sorry to hear.  Just received the news 11Nov24.  Worked with him and his wife at Brenau.  My wife Angie sends her condolences.  God bless.

Colin was one of four giants of my early world. My father, Colin, Ken, and Michael were the men of my world for the first 12 years of my life. Colin was the last. Colin taught me how to behave, how to know right from wrong and that there is a correct way to do things. My life has benefited from that teaching. However, he did not know when to bend, unless pleas were pitiful enough. I was 10, there we were 5:a.m. getting in the car heading to crab off the east side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Arrived and rented a sturdy wooden row boat with a motor. Nothing like dawn on the bay. Watching the sun's rays address the earth. Crabbing all morning and early afternoon. Out in the Chesapeake Bay on the east side of the bay bridge.Trotline we called it, a piece of chicken tied to a line that will be sunk to sea floor 6-10 ft. Deep, where those crabs will jump on and ride right to the pot four to five hours from now.There we were pulling that line all morning from sunup to high noon, hot. No crabs, how could this be? With great disappointment we start packing up. Now it was on the way home that Uncle Colin became enlightened to know when to bend.  There were several opportunities to stop on the side of the road from the Chesapeake Bridge back to Baltimore to buy crabs from locals, cheap! Finally, after much begging, plea's from the suffering of it. Colin stops like he knew all along, and we get a bushel of crabs for Grandmother’s house. Eating crabs under the apple tree. First Bruce and I had to rake up the rotting apples, dodging yellow jackets. It was a great day thanks to the last giant.

While it was sad to hear about Colin’s passing, it was good to hear he enjoyed a long and happy retirement.

Colin…or “CC” as I later called him, had a huge impact on my life.  When he hired me 45 years ago, I had no idea I would go on to retire from there some 40+ years later….. all thanks to him offering me a job!  CC was a great guy to work for, and I remember on the day he announced his retirement, we all knew we would miss his presence and we did. Rest in Peace CC.

Colin and his wife, Lorene, were loyal customers to the Waffle House I worked at. I always enjoyed seeing Colin come in. I cooked his breakfast for him day after day. He was such a happy and kind man, and I’ll always have him in my memory. I know I can speak for the entire staff at that Waffle House as well, when I say that he will be greatly missed. I will be burning some bacon to a crisp just for you Colin, because that’s just the way you liked it! Rest in peace, Colin. Until we meet again!
