She peacefully departed this life on May 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family.
From humble beginnings, Crysel embodied strength, determination, and generosity. She completed her early education in Jamaica and demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial spirit at a young age by establishing a successful business. Through her hard work and dedication, she provided meaningful financial support to her immediate family and extended relatives, beginning a lifelong tradition of uplifting those around her.
In the 1970s, seeking greater opportunities, Crysel migrated to the United States and made New York her home for over two decades. While continuing her education, she devoted herself to a career at Bernard Fineson, where she cared for individuals with mental disabilities. Her compassion, leadership, and commitment to service earned her promotion to supervisor, a role in which she continued to positively impact the lives of many.
Crysel possessed a deep love for learning and was an avid reader whose knowledge and wisdom enriched every conversation. She valued family above all else and dedicated much of her life to ensuring the well-being and success of her daughter, Diana Wright, and granddaughter, PaviElle McLaughlin. Her kindness and generosity extended far beyond her immediate household; she remained a dependable source of support and encouragement to family members, friends, and loved ones throughout her life.
Later in life, Crysel relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, embracing a warmer climate and a new chapter. There, she discovered a remarkable gift for painting through activities at a local senior center. Her artistic talent flourished, producing beautiful works that filled her home with color and expression. Her accomplishments as an artist earned public recognition, including an award featured in a local news article, a testament to her belief that it is never too late to discover new passions and purpose.
Crysel also found immense joy in food and cooking. A gifted cook, she delighted in preparing meals that brought people together. Whether crafting traditional Jamaican dishes or experimenting with new recipes, her kitchen was always a place of warmth, laughter, and love. Through food, she nurtured not only the body but also the spirit of everyone fortunate enough to gather at her table.
Above all, Crysel will be remembered for her quiet grace, enduring strength, selflessness, and the love she poured into the lives of others. Her memory will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
Crysel leaves to mourn and celebrate her life: her beloved daughter, Diana Wright; granddaughter, PaviElle McLaughlin; sisters, Cislyn, Dorothy, Lucille, and Merton; brothers, Purcell, Delsford, and Donald; along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit, wisdom, and love will remain with us always.
