

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Lucile Davis Claborn Reed and Bob Claborn on September 21, 1923.
He was predeceased by wife of 69 years, Kathryn, and son, Lee (D. L., Jr.). He is survived by sons, Gary (Jackie), and David (Denise), daughters, Andrea Claborn, and Kathy Quilis (Michel); grandchildren Domino Lee Claborn III (Charity), Dax Claborn, Gary (Dell) Claborn, Jr. (Shannon), Christi Claborn Cool (James), Adam Claborn, Kevin Claborn (Jing), Andrew Abee (Melissa), Alexandre Quilis (Lisa), Isabelle Quilis; great-grandchildren, Domino Lee Claborn IV, Lilyana Claborn, Logan Claborn, Kensley Quilis, Kate Quilis.
D. L. graduated form Tech High School in Atlanta in 1944 and attended The University of Miami briefly with a football scholarship. His main career was in the automobile business where he began with Boomershine Pontiac on Spring St.
In 1967, he opened D. L. Claborn Buick on Campbellton Road in Atlanta. In 1973, he opened Greenbriar Toyota. He later had auto franchises in Riverdale, Georgia.
D. L. had a lifelong love of high school and college football and was a football official for the Southeastern Conference for twenty plus years, having officiated in many bowl games. He was a devoted volunteer with the Peach Bowl where he set records for volunteer ticket sales. He was inducted into the Peach Bowl Volunteer Hall of Fame.
D. L. was a long-time member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Best of all, he trusted in Jesus!
Funeral arrangements at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Dr. Ike Reighard will lead.
Visitation Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, December 22, 2018, 10-11 AM. The funeral service is Saturday, December 22, 2018, 11 AM.
