Mrs. Dorothy “Melba” Jernigan of Atlanta, age 88, died February 25, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Doug Jernigan; daughter, Deborah Hunter and her husband Jon; sons, Douglas Jernigan, Jr. and his wife Lisa; James Jernigan and his wife Melissa; Chris Jernigan and his wife Sherry; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Directors, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
