

George Alexander Hoffman, age 81, of Dunwoody died May 19, 2016. Alex was an Atlanta native and attended Marist and graduated from Southwest Dekalb High School and then attended Georgia State. He worked with National Distributing Company in sales and then in merchandising until his retirement in 2011. A man with a wonderful sense of humor, he was an avid golfer and belonged to Horseshoe Bend Country club where he played weekly with his foursome for over 20 years. Among his other interests and hobbies was riding dirt bikes, sailing and fishing in Destin and for a period of time he built quarter scale model airplanes, never flying them, always afraid of crashing them. He touched many people’s hearts and the staff at Brookdale loved him. He is survived by his wife Susan Abery Hoffman. Having no siblings, and as his parents being deceased when he married Susan 33 years, ago he received a new family, Susan’s mother, Joan Abery, and Susan’s siblings, brother, Chris Abery and his wife Renee and sister Sheila Abery Schroer and her husband Greg and their children Lisa and Laura , their nieces. Alex also is survived by one cousin, Jeff Hedden and many cherished friends. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Sandy Springs Chapel at 2 o’clock p.m.. Rev. David Shivers will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn, GA 30047 The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and a Reception will be held following the memorial service at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy.NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Due to construction, please use our Sandy Springs Circle entrance.
