George Maclane Takis Jr.

Mr. George Maclane Takis, Jr., 90, of Sandy Springs died March 30, 2018. He was married for 52 years to Marian Kanzler Takis, who predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter Susan Patricia Takis, Wildwood, FL; sons and daughters-in-law George Frederick and Dubravka Takis, Berlin, Germany; William Maclane and Sandra Lynn Takis, McLean, VA; David Kanzler Takis, Sandy Springs; granddaughter Anna Maclane; grandsons Thomas John, George Simon Tobias, and Jonathan Stephan. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, George Maclane Takis, Jr. earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Georgia State University. After retiring from Lockheed Georgia after 33 years, he discovered a passion for teaching and spent 22 years sharing his knowledge of math and science with high school students in North Fulton County. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 3 at 1:00 pm at Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, 1824 Piedmont Ave., Rev. Susan Patricia Takis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Royal Potcake Rescue (www.potcake.org) or a charity of your choice.
