After a six-year courageous battle with vascular dementia, Jane Uhler Nixon returned to her Father on March 17, 2026. A kind, sweet, and caring person, she brought an extraordinary amount of joy and happiness to her family and her many dear friends.
Jane was born on January 21,1945 in Fort Worth, Texas. She spent her youth in Tenafly, New Jersey and attended Bowling Green State University where she majored in merchandising. Her education then led her to become one of the first female Assistant Buyers at JCPenney Company.
She married Geoffrey Nixon on July 20,1968 and the two enjoyed a wonderful 57 years together living in Alpine, New Jersey, Amelia Island, Florida and, for the past 50 years, in Dunwoody, Georgia. They also created lasting memories at their second home and at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club in Highlands, North Carolina. Jane and Jeff raised two incredible sons, Jon Nixon and Brian Nixon. After Jon married Rebecca Berry of Dunwoody and Brian married Amy Vander Gheynst of Columbus, Georgia, they were blessed with five cherished grandchildren; Carly, Kendall, Katelyn, Will and Kathryn.
If you were to look up the definition of a friend, you would find words like loving, loyal, devoted, affectionate, warm-hearted, trusted, cheerful, gracious and big-hearted. That was Jane.
A Celebration of Life service for Jane will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 1:00P.M. at Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, Georgia, her church home for the past 30 years. It will be followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Endowment Fund of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church or the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
