Jing-Yau Mark Lin, age 49, passed away on April 12, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in the Lin family home in the small village of Yunlin, Taiwan, Mark’s life journey carried him across continents and states, ultimately leading him to make his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Mark grew up in Starkville, Mississippi, where he built a foundation of lifelong curiosity and determination. He attended Northwestern University before transferring to Mississippi State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering in 1998. Over the years, he built a diverse and accomplished career, working with Federal Express, MPI, iVivity, and Cisco. In recent years, he found fulfillment in being self-employed and dedicating his cherished time to his wife, daughter, and well-trained dog, Molly.
Mark was a man of many passions and talents. He found joy in photography, playing tennis, motorcycling, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and cultivating the perfect lawn. He had an extraordinary ability to figure anything out—whether repairing appliances, fixing cars, or helping others solve complex problems. That same determination defined his battle with cancer. Seventeen years ago, when his radiologist had no further options to offer, Mark took it upon himself to find his own path forward in treatment. He became a trusted source of knowledge and guidance for friends and family alike.
Mark also had a tremendous love of travel. He created lasting memories by taking his family and friends on adventures around the world, sharing a deep appreciation for new experiences. He will be remembered for his generosity, intelligence, steady presence, and the deep love he had for those closest to him.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Vatsana Bobbie Lin; his daughter, Alinea Chaipa Lin; his father, Chyi-Hong Lin; his mother, Yue-Er Lin; his sister, Lulu (Micael) Edwards; and his father-in-law, Bounmy Liamkeo. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Mark’s legacy of love, curiosity, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
