

Mary Ellen was the daughter of Mary Lynn Owens Newcomer and Charlie A. Newcomer, Jr. She was born and raised in Fitzgerald, GA., and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She was married to the late William Burson McGuire for 60 years, and they enjoyed a long and adventurous life together.
Mary Ellen is survived by her loving daughters, Lynn McGuire Brown (Arnold), and Mary McGuire Ray (John), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Will McGuire, Katie McGuire, Warner Ray (Devan) and Elizabeth Ray. She is also survived by her brother, Charlie Newcomer (Clare). She was predeceased by her son, William Newcomer McGuire.
Mary Ellen led a full and vibrant life. She was deeply involved in her communities of Tampa, FL, New Orleans, LA, Newtown Square, PA, Pensacola, FL, and most recently, Atlanta, GA. She supported numerous organizations, including the Women’s Club, the American Cancer Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the United Methodist Church, and the Mayflower Society.
Mary Ellen had many interests, including travel, genealogy, bridge, flower arranging, antiques, painting and needlework. She was a devoted grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
