He is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Moore Womack and Maurice Burdett Womack, Sr., of Sandy Springs, and his brother, Larry Eugene Womack, of Alpharetta.
Ron is survived by two brothers: Maurice “Bob” Burdett Womack, Jr. (Brenda) of Sandy Springs, and John Wayne Womack (Fay) of Alpharetta; and by his sister-in-law, Lydia Womack, of Cumming, whose husband, Larry, is deceased. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, dear cousins, numerous cherished friends, and his two dogs, Sunday and Rocky.
Ron attended Sandy Springs High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Marketing/Real Estate in 1971 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he was also a member of Kappa Alpha. He served as President and CEO of Womack Realty since 1976 and President and CEO of Sandy Springs Plaza, Inc. since 1976. He was a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), past Vice President of Small Business Services in Sandy Springs, and a life member of the Sandy Springs Foundation.
Ron was a founding member of Sandy Springs Revitalization, Inc., a nonprofit organization that initially focused on the broader improvement of Sandy Springs. In June 1999, he was presented with a framed proclamation by Fulton County Commissioner Tom Lowe “for his outstanding efforts as a founding member as well as the contributions for enhancements that set the stage for Sandy Springs improvements and growth.”
Ron had great vision and a talent for development. He excelled at connecting with the community and making things happen. He always had a smile on his face and kind words for others. Ron was incredibly personable—he truly never met a stranger—and was admired by many. He loved his family deeply and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Water aerobics held a special place in his heart, and he cherished his friendships in Florida, Atlanta, and Sandy Springs. Ron loved traveling the world and eagerly anticipated each new adventure.
He was known for his impeccable work ethic and for always being there when someone was in need. Having grown up in Sandy Springs, he cherished his community and deep family roots, including his grandfather, Tilly Ebenezer Womack; his aunt, Tillie Womack Hindman; and his grandmother, whom he never met, Ora Burdett Womack, along with the extended Burdett Realty family.
