

Virginia B. Reese McCord was born on February 24,1931 in Sussex, Virginia, to the parents of the late Hester R. Goode and Clyde Parker and married the late George McCord in 1965 in New York City, New York.
On Friday, June 27, 2025, our precious mother, Virginia, peacefully transitioned at 6:01 am.
Virginia B. McCord retired after 42 years of service for the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation as a Lieutenant for the New York City Emergency Medical Services. She tirelessly supervised, mentored and supported fellow coworkers throughout her tenure with NYC-EMS.
Virginia B. McCord became a member of the Terrace City Chapter #26 Order of Eastern Star in 1979. Virginia worked the Star as Ruth, Esther, and Electa. In 1987 she was the Chapter’s representative for the Eureka Grand Chapter’s Queens Contest. In 1989, Virginia was elected as her chapter’s Worthy Matron. Under her leadership her chapter enjoyed financial success.
Virginia B. McCord is survived by her children Maurice, Fredricka, Pam and their spouses, her sister Lydia, daughter-in law Volanda, her grandchildren Sarah, Shannon and their spouses, Jordan, Arden, nephews Jesse, Lionel, Lyman and niece Latasha. She also leaves to cherish fond memories of her, cousins, friends and members of her church in Yonkers, NY, Community Baptist Church.
Known for her staunch position that it is important to love God and family, be educated, and to tell the truth always. She was always available to assist when called upon and always willing to help.
The Family encourages everyone to remember the joy she brought to all of us in life and not the sadness of her passing. We will miss her famous peas and rice, sweet potato pie, and lemon pound cake!!
