Walter Ray Duke

Mr. Walter Ray Duke, 72, of Dunwoody, formerly of Soperton, GA died October 8, 2011 after an extended illness. Starting his career with Bonner Realty, he became a builder of outstanding homes in Fulton County. He founded his own company, W.R. Duke Inc., earning the prestigious Builder of the Year award for Fulton County. He retired at the age of 55. After retirement he spent time enjoying the things he loved, his family, his friends, boating and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife Ann Duke, daughter and son-in-law Lori and Darren Leber of Dunwoody, his grandchildren; Savannah, Landen and Charlotte. Survivors also include his sister Frances Dawson of Savannah, bother William Duke of Atlanta and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or those who wish may make a contribution to the Leukemia Society, 3715 Northside Parkway, Building 400, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 12 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Directors, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
