It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Felice Hayes on September 13, 2025. She was 87 years old. Felice was a loving wife to her husband, John, a devoted mother to her son, Jack, and a cherished member of her extended family.
Born on May 2, 1938, in Ventura, California, Felice spent her life surrounded by those she loved and who loved her in return. She was a source of joy, kindness, and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Felice’s love story with her husband John began in an unconventional way, at a bar. She walked in with friends and left with him. They had to sneak out during their courtship, telling her strict father she was going to her godmother's house. When her father found out they were getting married, they even needed a chaperone.
Their honeymoon was a grand adventure as Felice had never left California before, so they flew to New York, where she saw snow and ice for the first time. Along the way, they visited Niagara Falls and made their way home in John’s parents’ car, stopping at the Grand Canyon, soaking in the beauty of the country. They had little money and slept on the floor of their apartment, but they had each other. Over the years, they became like one person. Now, half of John is gone.
Felice had a warm, caring soul. She was always ready to lend a hand, whether taking care of her nieces and nephews or being the steadfast caregiver for her brother for many years. Her infectious laughter and spirit filled every room, and she had an extraordinary ability to brighten the lives of those around her.
She loved her family, her home, old cars, and quirky little trinkets that held special meaning to her. She and John shared a love for their 1968 AMX Hotrod, attending car shows and cruise nights together. Even after she lost her vision, Felice never missed a moment as John would push her in her wheelchair and describe each car they passed. The only thing she loved more than classic cars was her family.
Felice is survived by her husband John, her son Jack, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She will be deeply missed.
A viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Santa Paula, 128 S 8th St, Santa Paula, at 12pm on September 24, 2025. Felice will be laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, 380 Cemetery Rd, Santa Paula.
