

John Manuel Meza, age 84, of Santa Paula, CA died on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Oxnard, CA following a brief illness. On November 23, 1938, he was born in Los Angeles, CA, the son to Mary Medina Meza and John Meza.
John is survived by his loving wife, Celia Meza; daughters, Marissa Meza (Sergio Moreno), Venessa Meza (Eddie Garcia), Angelica Meza (Andy Estrada), Monica Carreno, Carla Meza, and Candace Wynn; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren including Gabriel Meza, Adrianna Garcia, and Gizelle Meza who held a very special place in his heart. He is also survived by his brothers, Maurice Meza and Ronald Meza; sisters, Rosemary Corona and Felicia Martinez, and numerous extended family who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Mary Meza; his sister, Lupe Bascas; his brothers, Paul Meza, Peter Meza; and his son, John Meza, Jr.
John was a regular at Santa Paula Cruise Nights and all classic and lowrider car shows. He was best known for his 1941 Chevy and had a great appreciation for all old cars. He did all his own body work and paint, and later traded his career as a mechanic for a Class A and eventually ran his own trucking business, J&C Meza Transport.
He was a military veteran for 7 years and proudly served in the United States Army as Military Police and was an expert Sharpshooter and Marksman. He regularly attended all Veteran's Day and Memorial Day celebrations.
