Norma was born in Whitehall, New York, on September 26, 1913, and moved to Corning, California, when very young. She was the fourth of six children to Roy and Jesse (née Collins) Close. She married Norman Wesley Paul, M.D., in 1938 and first lived in Wilmington near the Los Angeles Harbor. They had two children who grew up in Sherman Oaks during the time when “Doc” worked as an industrial physician at Lockheed Aircraft. Doc passed away in 1969 in Thousand Oaks, and Norma moved to the Ventura area soon thereafter. Norma passed away on September 12, 2015. She will rest next to Doc at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park Cemetery in Camarillo, California—Santa Rosa 1, plots A&B.
