Bette lived a courageous and full life. She was born Bette Marie Callison, in Everett, Washington on May 10, 1923, where she spent her early years among the strawberry fields. As a young woman she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, during WWII. She was a Clerk Typist and a Final Assembler I, Aircraft, (she assembled cowlings and landing gear). Bette enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader and Netflix watcher. She was a fabulous Scrabble player and enjoyed researching her heritage on Ancestry.com. Still active on Facebook and proficient with her iPad, she lived alone in her own little apartment and was self-sufficient until the day she was transferred to John Muir with acute appendicitis. She is survived by her four children, Charleen Mansfield, Nancy Black, Jan Weber, and Chris Mayo (Lorianne); 4 grandchildren, Nancy Sudman (Jeff), Josh Mansfield (Michelle), Elizabeth Mayo, and Matthew Mayo; 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd S. Callison and Emma Lawe, and her brother Harlan Callison; son’s-in-law; Al Weber, Bert Mansfield, and Robert Black, and grandson, Charles Black. We thank the many friends who were always there for her at Sycamore Place. She lived life as she wanted, and left this world on her own terms. A military memorial service will be planned after the Covid-19 Pandemic has passed.
