Benjamin Franklin Reed, Sr. – a native of Aliceville, AL and resident of Saraland, AL passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at home with his family at his side. He was a U.S. veteran who served in the Korean War. Mr. Reed retired from Mobile Gas after 48 years of service. He was a member of the Masons and Southside Bass Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosie Kinard Reed and Julius Caesar Reed, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sumerlin Reed; four children, Diane Reed Lane (Greg), Satsuma, AL, Glenda Janet Reed, Saraland, AL, Benjamin “Benny” Reed (Melissa Sharpe) and Kenneth “Kenny” Reed, Theodore, AL; two grandchildren, Benjamin Scott Lane, Satsuma, AL and Kerri Elizabeth Reed, Saraland, AL; and other relatives. Funeral services will be Friday, March 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
