Bobbie was known and much loved far and wide in the community. She was a 28 year employee of Scott Paper Company tirelessly serving the needs of employees with her work in the personnel department where everyone was met with a warm smile, words of support, and unfailing encouragement. After her “first retirement” she was recruited by Radney Funeral Home in Saraland for these same remarkable qualities where her lovely spirit and natural people talents ministered to many local folks in their time of grief. Her enthusiasm and passions included for many years the local garden club and especially the Christmas decoration competition (in the early years) as well as her own flowers and yard at home. Her defining passion was with any and all sports activities in which her son, Steve, and later, her eldest grandson, Brandon, participated. If there was a game to attend, money to be raised for the team, volunteer work to be done, she was a constant and dependable participant. She will be missed by all who loved her and cherish her memory.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Arminda and Richard Atchison; father, Frank Poole; first husband, Luther Loper; and infant daughter, Pamela Loper. She is survived by her beloved husband of 20 years, Agnew Purvis; son, Steve Loper; grandson, Brandon Loper and Henry Loper; sisters, Betty Young and Helen Chastain; step-son, Rick Purvis; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 19, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
