Burton Ray Davis Jr.

Born in Mississippi, he was a long-time resident of Chickasaw and Saraland in Alabama. Ray graduated from Vigor High School and served in the Navy for four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton Ray Davis, Sr. and Cleopha R. Davis; and brother, Kevin Davis.

Ray is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet M. Davis; sons, Jeffrey Brian Davis (Priscilla) and Daniel Cory Davis; grandsons, Kaleb Ryan Davis and Garrett Lee Davis; brothers, Prentiss Roy Davis (Margie) and James Ronald Davis (Mollie); aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Ray was a retired employee in the power plant of a Mobile paper mill. He was a devoted husband, dad and Pa Pa. He and his wife were active members of Creola Baptist Church. Ray loved working in his garden, sharing the vegetables from his garden, building things, and enjoying his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 with Reverend Al Brown officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Pallbearers are: Shawn Cost, Thomas Cost, James Haynes, Mike Holley, Donald Thomaston, and Eric Turner.
