

Charles E. Skipworth – age 80, of Saraland, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joann C. Skipworth; three children, Keith Skipworth (Reesa), Jan Novell, and Randy Skipworth; a brother, Howard Skipworth (Bonni); five grandchildren, Dillon Evans, Preston Skipworth, Summerlin Skipworth, Grace Novell, and Jackson Skipworth; one great-grandchild, Easton Stagner; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Georgia Skipworth, and sister, Delouise Tucker. Charles was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a Mason in the Saraland Pentalpha Lodge, a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He retired from Kimberly-Clark Paper Company after 31 years. After retirement, he earned the nickname "Can Man" by dedicating countless hours each year collecting aluminum cans and other scrap metals. He donated all proceeds to transport needy children to Shriners Hospitals all over the country. He was a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, brother, loyal friend to many….and most importantly….a believer in Jesus Christ. He will be missed by so many. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Shreveport, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103.
