She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William (Ann) Mitchell, and her paternal grandparents, John (Sadie) Maherg.
Left to cherish Christy’s beautiful memories will be her mother, Phyllis Qualls; her father, John (Paula) Maherg; three brothers: Jonathan (Jenny) Maherg, Gary (Megan) Maherg, Tony (Michelle) Englett; two nieces: Mikayla (Tanner) Atchison, Brooklyn Maherg; three nephews: Dylan Maherg, Weston Maherg, Ethan Maherg; one great-nephew, Kendall Atchison; two aunts: Teresa (Steve) Booker, Lynn (Kenny) Pitts; two uncles: Frank Mitchell, Chris (Helen) Mitchell; nanny, Alice Jones; bonus aunt, Pattie Lee; best friend who she loved like a sister, Theresa Roney; two bonus nieces: Alex Johnston, Cherish Ainsworth; as well as numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Christy was a 1997 graduate of Leroy High School. She attended Robert E. Lee Elementary School and Adams Middle School before moving to Leroy, Alabama. Christy also attended Faulkner State Community College. She spent the last five years working for Stoney’s Restaurant and loved being there with her work family. Christy and Robert Griffin dated for over three years. They loved going fishing and exploring new restaurants.
Christy had the biggest heart. Her love of life was infectious. Christy brought a smile to everyone’s face through her kindness and generosity. To know Christy was to love her and she will be dearly missed. She loved spending time with family and friends. Christy, affectionately known as “Sissy” to her nieces, nephews and many others will always be remembered for her loyalty to family and friends, Sissy’s fun-loving attitude and her generosity to all. She had a special way with children and loved being with them. Christy would drop whatever she was doing to help her family and friends.
Honoring Christy as pallbearers will be Tony Englett, Chris Mitchell, Frank Mitchell, Steven Booker, Joshua Booker, and Robert Griffin.
Celebration of Life services will be held from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, Alabama on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The family will begin accepting friends beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, Alabama.
