

He began driving a school bus for fellow classmates at 15 years old and continued his life as a hard worker until he retired in 1999 from Scott Paper Company in Mobile, Alabama. David continued to live and serve in his community by taking off jobs for neighbors, supporting himself and his family and volunteering at his local Baptist Church.
Mr. Hayles was well taken care of in his last years by four beautiful and kind caretakers, Mary Shinn, Angileo Shinn, Carries Owens, and Karen Edridge. It’s through these strong women’s continual devotion and care that David was able to live in the comfort of his own home until his return to the Lord.
Mr. Hayles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Hayles; his late wife, Della “Vickie” Hayles; and a brother, Clifford Hayles.
He is survived by his sister, Clayton Pennington, his three children, Terry Hayles (Denise), Charlotte Ralph (Brian) and Paul Hayles (Brenda); two step-sons, Nathan McDaniel (Hariet) and Dennis McDaniel (Michelle): ten grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, also, survived by other relatives family and friends.
David’s passing will leave a hole in the hearts of all those around him.
A Memorial Visitation for David, will be held at Radney Funeral Home Saraland, on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
