Dean D. Bean

Dean D. Bean, Sr., passed away peacefully at home on March 2, 2025, with his devoted wife of 48 years, Diane, by his side. While his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A decorated Marine Corps veteran, Dean proudly served his country, earning numerous medals, including the Purple Heart. His dedication to service didn’t end there—after his time in the military, he continued protecting and serving his community for over 30 years with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. He ended his distinguished career prior to retirement in the Mounted Unit, where he could often be seen patrolling the streets and parades on his trusty steed, Cinnamon. Dean was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in the love of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Bean; his children, Dean Bean, Jr. (Sonya) and Heather Bean (Danetta); and his cherished grandchildren, Dalton Bean, Sebastine Bradley, and Caleb Souza. He also leaves behind his brother, Carl Bean (Amy), and many loving nieces and nephews. He was welcomed into eternity by his parents, Glen Taylor Bean and Florence Margaret Bean, and his brother, Michael Bean. Dean’s life was one of service, dedication, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. His warm heart, quick wit, and steadfast loyalty will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.

A service to honor Dean’s life will be held at Radney’s Funeral Home in Saraland on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL, immediately following the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dean’s memory by donating to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office Youth Outreach Program—continuing his legacy of service and support for the next generation.
