Dona K Strickland, born on May 2, 1937, passed away on October 14, 2025 Dona Kelley Strickland, born to parents, William Rochester Kelley and Nancy Elizabeth Holcomb in Hamilton, Alabama; went to meet Jesus on October 14, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama.
At age 5, she and her family moved to Chickasaw, Alabama. She was a graduate of Vigor High School. She was City Clerk for Creola, Alabama. She also worked as a Clerk for Mobile County Commissioners. In her retirement, she was fearless. Her achievements were many. Some of which included becoming a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at age 72. She enjoyed hot air ballooning, kayaking, airboat rides, helicopter rides and a 450’ swing drop, with the t-shirt to prove it.
She was a world traveler, going to Israel, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. She was a woman of great faith. Her love for Jesus was evident to everyone who met her. There was never a conversation when His name was not mentioned and expounded upon. She loved to sing more than she loved to eat, which was saying a lot! She was a woman of prayer, beginning each day by saying, “Good morning, Jesus!” She prayed over every bite of food and drink. She ended each day in prayer and singing, “I love you, Lord and I lift my voice; to worship You, oh my Lord.”
She leaves behind her children, Rhonda Spurling, Ricky Strickland, Sharon Wolf and Donna Collins; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
