
Ethel Edna (McKay) Hornbeak, widow of Robert R. Hornbeak, formerly of Prichard, Alabama died April 3, 2011 at New London Nursing Home, Snellville, Georgia. She was born in Paxton, Florida on Dec. 1, 1920. She lived most of her life in Prichard, and Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1937. She married Robert Hornbeak, September 7, 1937, and was married to him for over 60 years till his death in 1998.She loved her church (Prichard First Baptist/College Park Baptist) which she joined, and was baptized 10/19/1941. She was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth. She also loved to sew, and read until she lost her vision in 1977. She moved to Georgia in 2004. In her last years, she enjoyed her daughter singing hymns to her, and reading books with “happy endings”. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Renee Hamilton (Ken, deceased), Pinson, Alabama and Janice (Prout) Whitley-Chapman (Bill), Grayson, Georgia and four grandchildren, Stephanie Prout Forsberg (Ted), Columbus, Georgia, Robert Prout (Laura), Newnan, Georgia, James Hamilton, Pinson, Alabama, and Adrienne Hamilton Bailey (Scott), Pelham, Alabama. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Carl Forsberg, Brett Forsberg, Roselyn Prout, Carson Prout, and Kiera Bailey. She has one sister-in-law, Martha (Hornbeak) Imsand (Louis), Mobile, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Victor E. McKay and mother, Mattie Purvis Webb Mckay, one sister, Gladys McKay, one brother, William Edgar (Mary) McKay, one step-brother, Victor E. Mckay Jr.(Virginia), four half- brothers: Dewitt Webb (Elizabeth), Norman (Spike) Webb(Inez), Barkley Webb(Elma), and Willie Webb. Arrangements by Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Snellville, Georgia and Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, Alabama. Pastor Mike Bedford of College Park Baptist will officiate from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Her body will rest at Mobile Memorial Gardens, but her spirit will eternally be with the Lord Jesus.
