Fred Warren Shiver was born in Jay, Florida on November 17th, 1943 to Warren Graves Shiver and Evelyn Carr Shiver. He resided in Satsuma, AL for 46 years and moved on to his heavenly home Saturday, February 26th at 1:05 a.m.
Fred, affectionately known as Freddy to his lifelong friends and relatives, is survived by his wife Linda Gandy Shiver, two children Dana Lynn Shiver Jones (David) and Chris Warren Shiver (Karen), and four grandchildren Riley, Erin, Cassie, and Michael.
He is also survived by one sister Wanda Clark and various other relatives and friends left to cherish his memory.
Some of the things Fred loved most in life were hunting, fishing, friends, church and being a Mason. He was a past Worshipful Master at the Howard E Blackwell Lodge. He attended Axis First Baptist Church and was a deacon there.
Fred was a continuous dabbler and always had the next great idea. He ran a worm business from his home for a while. This included a car sign that he secretly placed on his son's truck that read I B Wormy and included his phone number. In addition he was a perpetual picker and co-owned an antique store with one of his best friends Tom Jones. They additionally ran a tractor supply store, a yard sale business, and an extremely successful deer cover scent business called Kick-a-Scent. Kick-a Scent's claim to fame was that it worked well but didn’t stink.
Fred may have also held the record for the 30-06 rifle shot-put. When his gun went off by accident in his truck cab and went through the floor he attempted to set that particular record by throwing it off a hill with all of his strength. This resulted in a shock absorber being mounted as a trophy at his hunting camp, and a scavenger hunt to recover the gun a week later.
Fred's greatest joy later in life was his grandchildren who he thought hung the moon and stars.
