Mrs. Lister was a school bus driver for Mobile County Public School System for 35 years. She was a long-time member of Creola Community Church and served in the nursery for many years. She helped teach and care for many children through her years there. She was also a loving caregiver to many during her life. She taught her family to love God, care for others and to persevere.
Mrs. Lister was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John (Bunk) Lister; mom, Cinderella Brown; brothers, Elvin Brown and Fred Brown; sisters Flossie McMillian and Carrie McMillian; one daughter, Kathleen Lister. Mrs. Lister is survived by brother, James Brown; one daughter, Delores Smith (Clint); two sons, Otis Lister (Anita) and Donald Lister (Charleen); 3 grandchildren, Doug Smith (Joy), Lorrie Lister (Jackie) and Belinda Lister Marrero (Robert); 3 great-grandchildren, Jeremy Fillingim, Joshua Fillingim, Amy Presnall (Tanner); 2 great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Nolan Presnall; and many other beloved family members.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for the amazing care given to Mrs. Lister. A special thanks to our angel and special nurse Jessie Odom who has become a dear friend to Mrs. Lister and all the family.
Visitation will be held at Creola Community Church in Creola on Friday, May 31, from 11 a.m. until the 12 noon service. Pallbearers will be Doug Smith, Jackie Lister, Jeremy Fillingim, Tanner Presnall, Charles McKinley, William Logan Stringfellow. Honorary pallbearers are Clint Smith, Joshua Fillingim, Robert Marrero, Cecil Smith and Robert Tomlin.
