Henry Wallace McCaskey was born on May 24, 1937, in Buckatunna, Mississippi, to Grady and Annie Grace Hearn McCaskey. On December 22, 2025, Wallace entered the presence of God and heard “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; his siblings Tommy, Libba, Myra Grace, Ruth, and Betsy.
Wallace is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Freida Howell McCaskey, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, faith and commitment. He is also survived by his brother, Duncan McCaskey of Moss Point, Mississippi.
He leaves behind five children who were the pride of his life: Pamela Farmer; Rhonda Brannan (David); Kyle McCaskey (Tammy); Peggy Ford (Wade); and Ashley McCaskey (Felicia). Wallace was a cherished grandfather to Jennifer Anderson (Jake), Matthew Farmer (Jennifer), Joshua Farmer (Paige), Alan Polk (Lanhuong), Drew Polk (Bonnie), William Brannan, Jillian Brannan (Anne), Danielle King (Mikey), Nicole Eubanks (Noel), Courtney Duncan (Matt), Chase Allen (Kayela), Amber Helton (Neal), Savannah Ford, and Rhett Ford. He was also blessed with 25 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
A man of deep and steadfast faith, Wallace served faithfully in the Wilmer First Baptist Church bus ministry, and also took on the role of “Psalty” in the Praise Kids children’s choir. He later served as a deacon at Semmes Second Baptist Church and was most recently a faithful member of Crawford Baptist Church. His love for the Lord and commitment to serving others were evident throughout his life.
Wallace enjoyed a successful and forward-thinking career in information systems. He began his professional journey with GM&O Railroad as a computer programmer, later serving as a systems analyst with Litton Industries at Ingalls Shipbuilding. Even after retirement, Wallace continued to share his expertise, working as a Y2K systems analyst with AT&T.
In his personal life, Wallace took immense pride in maintaining a pristine yard - always free of leaves and sticks. He loved a good game of golf and was a strict follower of the rules, though he was famously tight-lipped about his score after each round. Wallace also enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves.
Services to honor Wallace’s legacy will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a chapel service at 2:00 p.m. A private graveside service for family will be held.
Wallace will be remembered for his integrity, faithful service, sharp mind and deep love for his family. His legacy of faith, discipline, humor and devotion will live on through the generations he leaves behind.
