

Dr. Henry Earl Sikes, born on September 20, 1918 in McDavid Florida and longtime resident of Saraland, Alabama, was called to heaven on January 14 in Saluda, North Carolina. Dr. Sikes was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Lucy Sikes, his wife Jacquelyn Norton Sikes, and his sister, Louise Jenkins. He was a member of the greatest generation, having proudly served in the US Navy in Okinawa and Saipan as a Seabee in WWII. After military service, he attended Loyola University in New Orleans and opened a successful dental practice in Saraland, where he practiced for over 40 years. He was a founder and charter member of Saraland United Methodist Church and was also a very talented gardener, hunter and fisherman. He was known for his kindness and great sense of humor. He was a joy to be around and always had great stories to tell. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his four children: Henry E. Sikes Jr. (Gail), Guendolyn S. Williamson (Tommy), Harvey A Sikes (Jane), and James N. Sikes (Adrienne) and his eleven grandchildren: Samuel Charles and Jaclyn Kendall Sikes, Arena Bickel Suslowicz and Miranda Joy Bickel, Katherine Kendall, Margaret Jane and Elizabeth Lucille, Marianna Claire, James Hayden, Andrew Waite and Jackson Elliott Sikes. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, Alabama 36571 on Thursday, January 19th at 10:00. A funeral service at the funeral home will be held at 11:00 with interment immediately following at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
