Homer Howell Moore- age 98, a longtime resident of Saraland, Alabama and current resident of Germantown, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022. Homer was born October 12, 1923, in Pheba, Mississippi to the late Sam & Viola Wheat Moore. Mr. Moore served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer during World War II. After being discharged from the military, he worked in the civil service as a mechanic at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile and Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola from 1946 until his retirement in 1978. He then worked as a mechanic at Teledyne-Continental Motors in Mobile until 1982. He was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Glasgow Moore. He is survived by his children, Lynn H. Moore (Gail) and Larry W. Moore (Janeen); grandchildren, Karen Trotter, AMy Moore, Matthew Moore, Ashley Moore, and Aaron Moore; siblings, Dot Parker, Jo Reeder, and Nell Hamlin; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be John Lewis, Doug DeWitt, Aaron Moore, Ryan Trotter, Wesley Trotter, and Mason Trotter.
