Horace Sterlin Varden

Horace was born January 6, 1935 in Chilton County, AL to the late Samuel and Martha Varden. Horace met Wanda Adcock, and they married on December 29, 1967 and shared 49 beautiful years together, until her passing on June 2, 2017. He set a tremendous example of faith, love and strength of character, and was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

Horace is survived by his sons; Danny (Susan) Varden, and David(Frankie) Crawford, grandchildren; Scott Crawford, Lisa (Donald) Acy, Evan (Anna) Strickland, and Erin Strickland, Great Grandchildren; Katlyn Sampson, Aalivia Sampson, Makyla Sampson, Brooklyn Donald, Jada Donald, Celeste (Odis) Rivers, Savannah (Wilson) Hudson, Rena (Josh) Fullmer, Tonie Crawford, Jeremy Crawford, and Robert Crawford, Great-Great Grandchildren; Madix Fullmer, Ellie Fullmer, Anniston Rivers, Daven Rivers, Amanda Byrd, Kylen Hutcherson, and Amia Hutcherson, and many other family and friends that will miss Horace deeply.

Horace was preceded in death by his parents; Samuel and Martha Varden, wife; Wanda Adcock Varden, son; Kenneth Sterlin Varden, Granddaughter; Amanda Crawford, five sisters; Macie Robinson, Myrtle Sharp, Ollie Mae Plier, Frances Ellison, and Tiny Lee Smith, and three brothers; Bernie Varden, Stanley Varden, and Melvin Varden.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with a second visitation the next day on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 1pm, with the funeral following at 2pm. Services will be officiated by Bro. Donnie Williamson and Bro. Robin Nelson. There will be a graveside service immediately following the funeral at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland. Pallbearers will be David Crawford, Danny Varden, Steve Drinkard, Joseph Byrd, Josh Fullmer, and Jason Cochran.
