Jimmie “Polly” Rotch Dungan age 86, a longtime resident of Chickasaw, Alabama passed away quietly surrounded by family on October 30th, 2024. She was born in Jackson, Alabama on September 22, 1938, to John and Clara Rotch.
After graduating from Coffeeville High School in 1955, she went on to earn a degree in Education from Livingston College. She began her career in education in 1958 and retired from Mobile County School System after 35 years. She loved her family and valued every minute spent with them. She loved her church, reading her Bible, listening to old church hymns and watching game shows. She was affectionately known as “Ma” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leslie Eldred Dungan; parents, John and Clara Rotch; siblings, Ray Rotch, John W Rotch, Johnny Rotch, Nell Barnes, Eloise Cale and son-in-law Jimmy Newton.
She is survived by her children, Rotch Dungan, Cynthia Newton, Paula Hopman (Craig), and Scott Dungan; sister, Janice Atchison; grandchildren, Erin Newton, Jamie Hayles (Trey), Nikki Dungan, Page Dungan, Brooke Hopman, Caden Hopman, Courtney O’Neal (Brian); great grandchildren, Wilder Hayles, Jayden Kersh, Nathan Dunn, Nevaeh Dunn, Brailey O’Neal, Stormie Tillman and Mika Brogan as well as numerous, nieces and nephews and friends.
Active pallbearers are Trey Hayles, Caden Hopman, Craig Hopman, Phil Lankford, Joel James and Shelby Walker; honorary pallbearers are Tim James and Elroy Portis.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Funeral Service will be held on November 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at Radney with Rev. Bennie Harrison officiating, immediately followed by a graveside services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, Alabama.
