Jim was instrumental in helping me get the disc golf scene in Birmingham. He sent me discs for prizes, sponsored events and trusted me to build and host the Southern Nationals web site for years. We lost a good human being this week. 

After surgery on my elbow in the 1990’s, I asked Jim if I could hire his landscaping business to take care of my yard while I recovered. He had my yard looking great for the rest of the season. Although I asked, he never sent me the bill. What a great friend. He will be missed.

To my neighbor,

Through my childhood living on Howell Avenue with my parents (Mr. and Mrs. Derrick Chapman Sr. )and brother (Derrick Chapman Jr.) It was more than a pleasure knowing Mr. Jim. I was the only girl but I always would go outside to play with my brother,Matthew,and Blake. We were always into something. We would build treehouses,ride bikes,Matthew would try to show us how to play disk golf (epic fail for me..lol), jump on the trampoline, and play basketball/baseball etc. I always would knock on that side door and wouldn't leave until Mr.Jim answered saying"Hey Lacinda--(it's  Jacinda..lol..I never corrected him)" I'll say " May I use your computer/printer?" He would say "sure" everytime with no hesitation. (This went on through middle and high school because his printer was so much more advanced than ours..lol...he knew when I came with my school work in my hand what I needed) With that being said  he will be missed. My love and prayers pour out to the Orum Family at this time.

Always a pleasure to do business with and a great long-time customer.  Jim’s friendly smile and conversation will be missed. Our condolences to all of his family and especially his children.

Jim was an awesome dude.  I loved being with him during the tournaments. We had many laughs together. Sorry to you go old boy. God bless your family.

I am so grateful for Mr. Jim and what he did for the disc golf community in Mississippi and throughout the Gulf South.  I have made so many friends throughout Southern Nationals and it's all because of what Mr. Jim did for the sport of disc golf. 
I fondly remember getting a ride back from Memphis to Hattiesburg from Jim O and Matt after playing a tournament at Bud Hill. I accidentally reeled the passenger window down as we were leaving the park. What I didn't know was the window was broken and wouldn't roll up so  we had to ride the entire way back with the window down. I'm sure he's still laughing about that.
