John F Pruett, age 93, of Houston, Texas passed away on Friday March 20, 2020. John was born September 16, 1926 in Ashland, AlabamaJohn F. Pruett, 93, passed away on March 20, 2020 in Houston, Texas. He was the husband of Doris Pruett (deceased). Married for 70 years, they spent most of their lives in Chickasaw, Alabama, where they also raised their family.

Born in Ashville, Alabama, John lived his life as a testimony to God’s love and faithfulness. A veteran of World War II with a long career in the U.S. Postal Service, John was first and foremost a devoted husband and father, as well as a beloved Pa-paw. He was also a loyal friend to everyone he knew or met, and strangers truly were friends he just hadn’t met yet. He was always ready with a joke and a chat, spreading joy and kindness throughout the community.

John was a faithful member of Fountain of Life Church in Saraland, Alabama, a church that he and Doris attended from their marriage to the end of their lives. For many years, John served there as a Deacon and in many other roles. John and Doris were committed to blessing others, giving generously of their time and resources. They were living examples of how to love and care for family and how to always think of others first.

John is survived by his two sons Michael Pruett (and his wife Gloria) and David Pruett (and his wife Patty); three grandchildren Chris Pruett (and his wife Brandy), Brandi Pruett, and Elizabeth Chavez (and her husband Baldemar); and two-great grandchildren, Baylee Pruett and Mason Pruett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fountain of Life Church .

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.RadneyFuneralHome-Saraland.com for the Pruett family.

John was a really sweet man. He gave the best hugs at church. He loved southern gospel music. He heard me sing a solo one time at church. After that every time I saw him he asked me when I was singing again. He sure did love Jesus and our church. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Bro. Pruett was one of the kindest, most loyal, hardworking men I have known. It was evident in the way he lived his life that he loved God and his family!! He always had a smile on his face and a joke to go with it!!! He will be greatly missed!!!

I loved John Pruett! He and Doris, although many years of difference in our ages, were the first couple to reach out to Gail and me when we began attending Lakeview Assembly of God/Fountain of Life Church. He was a kind gentleman and I loved his sense of humor and quick wit. I’m going to miss him!

He was a faithful and dedicated husband, great dad, grandfather and great father. He was also a faithful Christian and member to his church. My dad will be greatly missed.
