

Mamie was born on May 13, 1945, in Greenville, AL, to the late Allmon Owens and Ola Mae Owens. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1963 and received her Nursing degree from Southwest State Technical College in 1966. She met the love of her life, Stephen, in 1966, and married on June 17, 1967. They spent 58 wonderful years together. Together, they set a tremendous example of faith, love and strength of character, and were a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
Mamie worked for Mobile Infirmary for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Axis First Baptist Church, where she was a beloved Sunday School Teacher. She loved her 2 dogs, Dutchess and Molly, she loved gardening and flowers, she loved making ceramics for her children’s whole class, she loved to travel extensively with her husband and family, she loved cooking and baking, was a collector of antiques and loved going to shop for them, but her biggest joy was being supportive to her children and grandchildren.
Mamie is survived by her husband of 58 years; Stephen Ard, two children; Steven (Lisa) Ard, and Kenneth (Julie) Ard, two grandchildren; Scott (Natalie) Ard, and Owen Ard, and many other family and friends that will miss her deeply.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; Allmon Owens and Ola Mae Kirksey, one brother; Roy Owens, two half-brothers; Frank Owens and Al Owens.
Visitation will be held from 10am to the 11am funeral hour on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Saraland.
