Marion Lynfield "Smitty" Smith Sr.

Marion Lynfield “Smitty” Smith, Sr. – a 95 year-old native of Meridian, MS and longtime resident of Chickasaw, AL passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He retired from Mobile Pulley Works in 1991 as a journeyman machinist after 37 years of service.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Oscar Smith and Lilly Mae Smith; brother, Jesse Dilworth “J.D.” Smith; sister, Flora Sizemore; and son, David Eugene Smith. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Bobby Jean Smith; son, Marion L. “Skipper” Smith, Jr. (Heather); grandchildren, Marion L. “Lynn” Smith, III (Christa), Darren D. Smith (Melinda), Sarah Marie Hay, Rachel Anne Mooney (Billy), and Sierra Cheyenne Marsh; 11 great-grandchildren; 5 great, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the service hour.
